Race Report

#12: 11/16/2014 – Bucks County Marathon (Pennsylvania: 4:16:08)

Time: 4:16:06

Conditions: Beautiful fall day!

Summary: 2 years, 1 month, 17 days later, I ran another marathon.  I was down for two full years healing from hamstring tendinitis.  I honestly never thought i would run a marathon again.  I sat at ‘marathon number 11’ for two years.  I was so injured and so far from being comfortable with the distance, that I was afraid to run 26.2 miles again.  I decided to run a marathon in my backyard, literally.  This race was up and down the towpath–in my back yard.  It was a 13.1 out and back on the path that I trained on ever single day.  I got Reilly excited to be my water boy, and I tell you, he learned quickly that marathoning really is the slowest parade ever.  I felt great.   I got tired in the end, but for my first race in two years, I needed to have a great experience.  I really felt accomplished after this race.  This is also the race where I decided I wanted to keep up on my training and possibly increase my volume.
